It’s spring, line up your frozen fruit, bowls, and toppings –smoothie bowl season is here.


Acai Bowls have gained popularity by not only being delicious and pretty to look at but by being good for you.


We’ve yet to see those freeze packs of acai berries here, but what we do have is acai berry powder which works just as well.  Acai Berry is a Brazilian Berry which is high in antioxidants and low in sugar.


If you use adaptogens, we’ll occasionally add a teaspoon of Ashwagandha to this smoothie for an extra boost of energy but that’s completely optional and not in the ingredients listed below.


When it comes to toppings you can go as minimal or extreme as you want. Fruit, hemp seeds, nuts, shredded coconut and nut butter are favourites. And when there’s some homemade granola lying around that’ll go in too!


Acai Bowls

Acai Berry Powder turn a simple berry smoothie bowl into an acai bowl. These acai bowls should be thick, creamy and loaded with toppings.
Course: Mains
Dietary: Gluten Free, No Added Sugar, Nut Free, Vegan, Wheat Free
Servings: 1 serving


  • 1 banana peeled, sliced and frozen
  • 1 C mixed berries frozen
  • 1/2 C coconut water
  • 1 tbsp acai berry powder
  • 1 tbsp tahini
  • Toppings Fruit, hemp seeds, chia seeds, nuts, shredded coconut, granola etc


  • Combine all the ingredients, except for the toppings and blend until smooth.
  • Pour into a bowl and top with desired toppings. Serve immediately.
