This blueberry pie smoothie is the cold drinkable version of a blueberry pie. It takes a fraction of the amount of work and is much healthier. It’s more textured than most smoothies, thanks to the oats and nuts which give it a pie like feel.  It’s also banana free and refined sugar free, using dates to sweeten it. It’s not a very sweet smoothie, so if you need – add another date or a squeeze of maple syrup or honey.

 

Blueberry Pie Smoothie

This blueberry pie smoothie is like drinking a pie. In a good way. This recipe is gluten free, vegan and refined sugar free.

Servings: 2 smoothies

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 Cup almond milk
  • 2 cups frozen blueberries
  • 2 tbsp oats
  • 2 tbsp cashews
  • 1 tbsp almond butter
  • 3 soft pitted dates

Instructions

  • Put everything in a blender and blend. To make the blending go smoother, always put the liquid (almond milk) first and then the rest of the ingredients.
  • . Divide into 2 glasses and enjoy.

Notes

If your dates are hard, soften them in hot water for 5 minutes before adding them to the blender – they’ll blend up easier.
Make sure the oats are gluten free if you need the recipe to be.
