Avocado is technically a fruit, so putting it into a dessert isn’t as weird as it seems. Its neutral taste and creamy texture gives this chocolate mousse an ultra-creamy feel without detracting from the chocolate flavour.

It’s the easiest and quickest chocolate mousse you’ll ever make. The better quality your cocoa is, the richer it’ll taste. I’ve used both Bourneville cocoa as well as Health Connection Wholefoods Cocoa and get a slighter more rich chocolatey taste with the Health Connections Wholefoods brand.

4 Ingredient Raw Chocolate Mousse

4 simple ingredients is all you need to make this 5 minute raw, vegan and gluten free Chocolate Mousse
Course: Desserts
Dietary: Gluten Free, Nut Free, Refined Sugar Free, Vegan, Wheat Free
Servings: 2 servings


  • 1 medium avocado
  • 1/4 cup cocoa
  • 2-3 tbsp maple syrup
  • 2 tbsp rice milk


  • Cut the avocado in half and scoop out the flesh into your blender. Add in cocoa, maple syrup and milk and blend until completely smooth. Taste and add another tablespoon of syrup if needed.
  • Divide between two glasses and serve chilled (with whipped coconut cream or fresh berries)


  • You can replace syrup with honey. You can also most likely replace it with soft dates (2-3)
  • You can replace rice milk with another plant or nut milk
