It was always the same wish. Every candle. Every time. I want a life I never want to take a vacation from. That’s my goal.

In a nutshell

When Jordan and her boyfriend Cole are struggling to pay rent and kicked out their apartment, Cole’s father Pike offers to let them move in, in exchange for helping out with the chores. Jordan reluctantly accepts but soon finds herself falling hard for Pike. The feelings are mutual but she’s unavailable and he’s her boyfriend’s father so there is no way they can give in to their attraction.

Book Club Notes

This book is a mixed bag, as it’s partially interesting and partially one dimensional. It is decently written, the characters are interesting, and overall the plot – although predictable – does keep you engaged.

Reading the back jacket I thought it would be more disturbing than it was. Yes a 20 year age gap sounds large, but when the dad is in his late thirties, it definitely comes across as less outrageous. The story had some very sweet, real and meaningful moments but overall it was a little draggy. I knew what was going to happen and my opinion is that at its core, it’s erotica wrapped in a story.

You enjoy romance that’s half story, half erotica.
